LAKU – ‘MUSTA’ EB05 SCRAP LEATHER BAG

The Leather Scrap Bag, is an experimental development of the original LAKU design exploring leather craftsmanship, play, and reinvention. Transforming waste into desire; where marks, scratches and unpolished materials are sought after rather than seen as a flaw.

This series explores how leftover leather scraps and off-cuts can be transformed through a sustainable design process into high-quality, one-of-a-kind pieces. Each bag is hand-numbered with a stainless steel off-cut tag, marking its unique place in the order of creation.

‘Musta’, translating to 'Black' from Finnish, is the fifth scrap bag made, and comes with an adjustable and detachable leather strap that can be worn across the body, on the shoulder and carried in your hand. Each bag comes with a hand-made box from salvaged materials by bookbinder Sim Orme.
